| Hepco & Becker |
|
See photos above for why you might want a set of engine/body work protection bars. The above happened at 2 MPH turning around on a dark street which had a set of converging off camber angles. Try to negotiate past a parked truck and not enough throttle and down you go. Took about 1 second. Scraped up fairing, broken indicator, bent brake lever (completely hammered ego :-(, you get the picture. Cost of repairing/painting the fairing easily exceeds the cost of a set of bars. In fact with a set of bars this would have been completely painless with maybe a scratch or 2 on the bars that a black marker would have covered. As it is I got off easy but the only thought in my mind on the ride home was; why did I put off getting those bars? Details on the various other Hepco & Becker products are below. |

| Gobi Enduro Extreme |
| These look to be pretty nice gear. They have the classic aluminum pannier look (they're made of high impact plastic) without the drawbacks of aluminum panniers (dentable and they need inner bags etc.). Not too pricey and they bolt right onto the H&B pannier mounts. Their factory spiel is below.
New: Gobi for extreme situations. The extreme bag of Hepco & Becker. |

| Traditional Aluminum Panniers |
| These are the classic aluminum panniers which some people swear by. You should pack your gear in a protective bag of some sort (hey!. they make some) as the aluminum will chafe and discolor things. But if you live for tradition, here you go. These come in 37 and 43 liters sizes, (the difference is in the width) and the top box is 35 liters (will hold a helmet).
They also make a top end version of the aluminum panniers. Email for details. |
