As has been discussed many times, it's the 1) make all your measurements then 2) go to the dealer to get the shims then 3) do all the work over again installing the shims that makes the valve setting a complicated and tedious task.
With a selection of shims at hand you work on one valve and get that set right, then move on to the next. Things go smooth and you are not getting confused by which valve gets which replacement shim etc. These shims cost out at 40-50% less than the shims from Ducati (and Ducati do not make their shims themselves, they job it out).
These shims are made from a superior material and each batch are tested for size and hardness by the maker. Kit includes the special measuring tool needed to accurately measure the closer shims. These shims cover the middle of the size ranges covering the sizes people need most.
