This is easily the tool that delivered the most bang for the buck for me. Over the years I had developed my own balancing procedures based on the articles I'd read and the techniques of others. But it was always a hassle and it seemed like too much trouble.
This gauge hooks up to the vaccuum ports on the carb manifolds and shows you the difference between the 2 ports at any RPM. On most bikes you adjust one carb until the needle is in the middle and then they are balanced. On the Elefant the adjustment is one screw located between the carb bodies.
You can set it be balanced at whatever RPM you want but on our bikes around 4K makes the most sense. If you've never spent an hour trying to synch your carbs you may feel like you didn't get much when this tool allows you to synch them in 5 minutes.
Re-synching every 1000 miles is time well spent.
